I just read an article in the Bellingham Herald this morning that made me angry, then stunned, then determined that UnitingCreatives.com will become a household word in America and around the world. The article is titled: Sales of Painkillers Soar Around the US, Fuel Addiction.
What is happening in this article is just not o.k. with me on so many fronts I cannot even hardly say. But I will say it shortly…and I would like you all to go read the article, and give me your feedback. Please know that I am asking you to read it critically, to pay attention to what you see, and what you feel and what you think when you read it.
And I ask you…why is the sales of painkillers soaring around the US…fueling addiction? Please tell me what you think.
Why? Because I really want to know what your response is to this article, to the situation and more.
I am tired of unwitting robotic thinking that is promoting our countries destruction, the destruction of our children and our families, and ultimately the destruction of the human species. I know that this statement is a bit of a jump…but I am incensed at how unwittingly we are promoting our own self-destruction.
And I am exploring how to write in this blogosphere to engage in real live discussion that matters.
Here, read the article as it was published first, and start tracking your thoughts. Please come back and comment on this thread to let me know what you think. As soon as I can I will get back to this and share my thoughts and analysis of the article. Trust me, it will not be what you might think. To me this article is a perfect example of unconscious thinking on so many levels it just boggles my mind. I will critique it soon…for it is time to start learning, as creative leaders, how we have lost our common sense; and what it is going to take to get a new thinking cap on.
Right now, we Americans are wearing a dunce cap…and I mean us leaders. We are. It is time to grow up. Share your thoughts…and I will share mine. And if you share first, don’t worry…I will not tear you apart for I genuinely want to know what you actually see. I know I have filters on…so I am curious what filters my other readers have on. My purpose in asking you to write back here, is not to trap you, it is honestly to check for your listening and skills of observation.
And, then, I will start my process of constructively tearing apart this article, the situation, and the unconsciousness of so many professionals involved in all this. And, once I do that, I will also come back with constructive criticism of how I believe this article could have been written if the writers of the article were actually concerned about the problem and wanted to solve the situation. And I will talk about the ripple effects of this article, the problems we are creating in our world because of the subject matter of the article and the media promotions that go along with it. How these problems compound and are affecting us all as taxpayers as a result, how it affects your personal pocket book, and much more.
And, moreover, I will come back with solutions and recommendations about what we leaders must do, if we wish to change course, save lives, and redirect our country. may change a couple lives.
I promise.
Here are some questions for you to start thinking about after you read the article:
What do you remember about it? Did you just skim over it, or did you actually notice what it said? What links did you click on? What were the attached photos about? Who was promoted? What images did you leave with?
Here is the article copy (without pictures) in case you cannot get the link to work for some reason:
NEW YORK - Sales of prescription painkillers are exploding in new areas, and experts are worried that's creating a wave of addiction. Pharmacies, hospitals and physicians dispensed the equivalent of 69 tons of pure oxycodone and 42 tons of pure hydrocodone in 2010. That's enough to give 40 5-mg Percocets and 24 5-mg Vicodins to every man, woman and child in the United States. An analysis by The Associated Press shows distribution of the two drugs is booming from New York's Staten Island to Santa Fe., N.M.
